The Evangelical Churches of Kenya Kisii branch, has asked the government to consider funding some of the serious private schools to enable them promote quality education in the country.
Speaking at Kisii town after the release of the 2021 KCPE results, the branch Secretary Rev. Lawrence Nyanuga said that most private institutions posted impressive results that testified that the owners are serious in the promotion of education.
“These proprietors should be assisted by the government either by paying teachers or putting up some classrooms to ease their financial burden,” he said.
The Reverent further asked the government to partner with these schools by providing books, arguing that the schools were private but not the learners.
He thanked the proprietor of Excel Elementary School Mr. Wilfred Joseph Abuga and his staff for producing top candidate in Kisii County; Emmanuel Mairura who score 422 marks.
He asked the community to follow his example by investing in the development of education.
He asked parents to embrace the 100 percent transition from primary to secondary school instead of allowing them to join the Boda-boda business that has lured them into getting quick money.
Nyanuga praised the government for supporting Vocational institutions and asked school leavers to enroll in those institutions to gain sustainable skills.
He promised that their churches will continue to support development in both public and private institutions.
