After a successful and action-packed preliminary stage, the 2026 Brookside Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national term one games now enter a decisive phase, with semi-final slots across disciplines set to be contested in high-stakes encounters today.
The preliminaries delivered drama, upsets and dominant performances, as traditional powerhouses and emerging challengers flexed their muscles in handball, hockey, basketball and rugby.
With dreams of lifting national titles within reach, only four teams in each category remain standing.
In handball, giants Moi Girls Kamusinga will renew their quest for glory when they face Karai in the girls’ semi-final, while St Joseph Girls High School, known as Joga, tackle Nyakach in the other tie.
In the boys’ contest, Highway collide Musingu with St Joseph Boys, commonly referred to as JOBO, seek to edge past Matuu and keep their title defence on course.
Hockey enthusiasts are also in for a treat. St Anthony face Ringa in a mouth-watering boys’ semi-final while Friends Kamusinga battle Kisumu Day.

In the girls’ category, Ng’iya play Nyamira as St Joseph Girls meet AIC Nyayo in evenly matched contests.
On the basketball court, perennial contenders square off in what promises to be a high-tempo boys’ showdown.
In the boys’ category, Laiser Hill Academy will square it out with Friends School, Kamusinga, while St Mary’s Yala face Lukenya.
In the girls’ semis, Butere clash with Barchando as Kaya Tiwi take on St Brigid’s Kiminini.
Rugby will equally take centre stage. In the girls’ semi-finals, Kinale will play Mbakathi as Mwira tackle St Joseph Girls in two highly physical encounters. The boys’ category will see Upper Hill face Kakamega school while Kisii school battles St Mary’s Yala in the other encounter.
