Parents of a Form 1 student at Riokindo Boys Secondary School in Kenyenya sub-county are yet to come to terms with his death after he passed away on Saturday under unclear circumstances.

According to the deceased’s mother, Everlyne Otara, she was called on Saturday morning and informed that her son, Brian Otara, was sick.

She reported at the school’s dispensary where she found him already admitted.

“I found him very weak as he lay on the bed experiencing a lot of diarrhea as he complained of a severe headache,” she said.

Due to the situation, the boy was referred to Kenyenya Sub-County Hospital for advanced medication but he was announced dead on arrival.

“The school administration has said that the boy seemed in good health as he played with others on Friday but he told his mother that he had been sick since Wednesday and had not eaten anything,” said the father, Evans Otara.

As of the time of publishing the story, the school had yet to comment on the matter.

The deceased’s body has been preserved at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
