Siemens Healthineers has partnered with RAD-AID to support radiology education across African countries.
The two organizations are offering the program to ensure fast bridging of specific education gaps in staff training for medical imaging equipment in low-resource settings in Kenya, Ghana and Tanzania.
“Continuous Education and training in the field of radiology is essential in ensuring quality healthcare and accurate diagnosis. Siemens healthcare is proud to support RAD-AID’s radiology education program. This initiative will provide essential training for healthcare professionals across Africa,” said Ole Per Maloy, CEO, Siemens Healthineers.
RAD-AID works in over 40 countries to enhance and maximize access to medical imaging and radiology in low-resource regions of the world, including African countries.
Speaking on the partnership, Daniel J. Mollura, MD President of RAD-AID International said, “The collaboration between RAD-AID and Siemens Healthineers is an exciting high impact outreach program for radiology education and health equity to help low-resource medical institutions in low and middle-income countries.”
Some of the challenges facing the regions to benefit from the partnership include financial limitations that hinder investment in education for medical imaging, poor hospital infrastructure, poor internet connection, obsolete equipment and shortage of skilled medical providers and workers in the field.
RAD-AID is a nongovernmental organisation with a mission to promote radiology in global health with emphasis on sustainability through education. Siemens Healthineers on the other hand is a leading medtech company with over 125 years of experience.
