Gucha Sub – County Director of Education David Akalea has told head teachers and the education stakeholders to ensure maximum security for their pupils during the on-going second term sports championships for Primary and Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).

Akaela while speaking recently at Tendere Secondary School where he opened the sub county competition cautioned teachers against fielding over age pupils to play for their teams with the aim of winning.

“I ask the teachers not to focus on winning and getting trophies unfairly but instead to focus on training young upcoming talents who will be able to make a career out of sports and games,” he said.

He thanked Kenya Secondary School Primary Schools Heads Association (KEPSHA) Gucha Branch for preparing good teams from their schools and handed them over to the Sub County level despite the financial constraints they encountered.

At the same time, Gucha Branch KEPSHA chairman Edward Gisemba said all of the 41 Public Primary Schools in the region trained their teams from zonal level but their number of qualifiers kept on diminishing as they advanced to the Sub County level.
