Half of my salary will finance needy students’ education, says Muthama

Machakos gubernatorial candidate Johnson Muthama has pledged to set aside half of his salary to fund education of needy students in the county.

In a meeting that brought together Kenya Primary School Heads Association members and professionals from Mwala, Muthama vowed to advocate and safeguard for the rights of students with special needs in learning institutions.

“My solemn priority in my governance will be to put in place an education policy that will prioritize needy students for the sake of the county and individual development. Moreover, I will construct higher institutions of learning and equip them with the necessary facilities,” he said.

While assuring teachers that education will be among his top agendas once elected, Mr Muthama assured reasonable disbursement of bursaries so no child stays at home due to lack of fees.

In addition, he promised to take care of teachers’ affairs and work closely with them.

“When I picked a professor as my running mate. I had you in mind because I know there are issues concerning you that can only be understood by one of you,” added Muthama.

The teachers present endorsed him and promised to gather as many votes to ensure his victory.

“We have listened to him and noted that he is the most suitable candidate for the governor’s position. He is someone who values education and the plans he has will elevate our county,” said Francis Mbuluka, the Mwala KEPSHA chair.
