Gusii youth asked to embrace technical skills to compete in the current job market

Parents have been urged to help their children make informed decisions in their career choices as the youth aspiring to go for training are asked to embrace technical education to compete in the current job market.

Ekerubo Gietai TVET institution Registrar, Davis Nyangeri said the future employment survival depends on technology and technical skills as he asked learners to embrace technical education to enable them get skills that can help them compete successfully in the job market.

The instructor was speaking to students and parents at Tabaka DEB Primary School during the Technical and Vocation Education Training (TVET) sensitization forum.

The programme was sponsored by more than five joint vocational institutions, Nyamira County and a local vernacular radio station (EgesaFM).

Mechanics, Dress-Making, Mechanical Engineering, Plant operation, Hair beauty/therapy, Carpentry/ Joinery, Masonry and Plumbing were the main courses that were highlighted during the forum.

Ekerubo Gietai, Orogare, Riatirimb and Kitutu Masaba Institute of Technology were the TVET Institutions that took part in the sensitization process.

A Senior Lecturer at Sensei Technical Training Institute in Nakuru County, John Maritim said parents should encourage their children to join the technical colleges whose capitation is taken care of by the government.
