Migori County gubernatorial candidate has pledged to enhance training of youth on technical skills in technical and vocational training colleges.

Ochilo Ayacko who is vying for the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement party said that the county government under his leadership will ensure funds are allocated to empower students through scholarships.

He was speaking in Komomange market in Kuria West constituency during his campaign.

The gubernatorial hopeful called on the electorates to vote him into office to ensure their challenges are addressed.

“It is important to embrace the existence of technical and vocational training colleges which is majorly focused on training and promoting the jua kali industry, agriculture, tailoring among others,” said Ochilo.

He however encouraged parents and youths to embrace technical and vocational training colleges as the training will go a long way in making their children a decent living after completion.

“If we want to eradicate poverty within our society, it is important to note that the training from colleges is necessary in equipping our children with the necessary skills for survival in the Corporate world. We should not only focus on white collar jobs and underrate the technical jobs since we need both skills to build our society,” he added.

He noted that in his government five youth will be identified from every ward for training and awarded contracts by the county government to empower them and set a good example to other youth in the society annually.

“Our priority is to empower our youth academically and financially through training on technical skills and job creation as a way of eradicating poverty and developing the county and country at large,” he concluded.
