Guard children against drug use over the holiday, MCA tells parents

Parents have been advised to monitor their children not to be involved use of drugs and other vices that may ruin their lives during the April-May holiday.

Tala Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Jackson Ndaka, said some students join bad company during the holidays and end up acquiring bad behavior which interferes with their academics lives.

He asked parents to be vigilant especially on the boys who make friends with people who are not students.

“I ask parents to monitor their children in order to go back to school in good health when the holiday is over,” said Ndaka yesterday during a public participation meeting in Tala town.

He warned the students against engaging in immoral behavior which may lead to them contracting sexually transmitted diseases.

He said allowing children to mingle with some people or visiting unknown places alone during the holiday could up exposing to drugs.

The MCA also asked parents to keep a close eye on them and prevent them from loitering in trading centres, market and towns.

“I am asking parents in this county to monitor their children during this short break not to fall into wrong company or become crime victims,”the MCA added.

Schools across the country are closing this week for the short April-May holiday.
