A somber mood engulfed Emukhuyu village in Nambale sub county of Busia County during the burial of two students who perished in a grisly road accident two weeks ago.

The two, George Wesonga who was set to join Kenyatta University next month and his younger brother Linus Ndubi , were travelling from Mumias on a motorbike and upon reaching Nambale Mayoni Road, they knocked a broken down lorry.

One of them died on the spot while the other died a few minutes after being rushed to Nambale sub county hospital for treatment.

Their grandfather Francis Barasa Nanyanga and their step brother Cosmas Ndubi detailed the last moments they spent together before tragedy hit.

Nanyanga said the two brothers had gone to visit him to borrow grass to roof their house but left at 2pm to visit their grandmother in Mumias.

“In the evening, we were so shocked to get news that they had been involved in a road accident near Ekisumo Primary School,” he explained.

He sadly narrates that they nursed hopes that the two could survive and were shocked to the core to find out that one had already died.

“We rushed the second one to hospital to save his life but he died shortly after we arrived in
hospital,” he sadly revealed.

The duo termed the death of their kin a big blow to the community and asked for prayers during their trying moment.
“They were very bright and hardworking boys. We had sold a piece of land to finance George’s education at Kenyatta University where he was to study Education.” He revealed.
