Fear and shock engulfed Tente village and Migori Teachers Training College (TTC) after learning about demise of one of their own.

According to his parents, Stanley Nyakundi and Nyaboke Nyakundi who are both teachers, their son met his death though a road accident as he was cycling down a steep hill along at Sasuri road.

“An eye witness said the bicycle lost control and rolled into a culvert where he was badly injured,” said the father.

The injured man was plucked from a ditch and rushed to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment but he was referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The body is preserved at Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary as preparations for his burial went on.

The body was identified as Obed Ondieki Nyakundi, 20, Migori TTC student.

Until his death, he was a first year teacher trainee at the college.

Relatives and friends who condoled with the family at Tente village at the outskirts of Nyamira town termed the deceased a very polite youth.

Teachers who taught him in the past and also colleagues of his parents said he had left a big gap that will take long to fill but asked the bereaved to depend in God to give them more strength to remain resilient.

His aunt who identified herself as Jane Gesare narrated how he brought him up as her own son with childhood aspirations to inherit his parents teaching career but death has snatched him.

Her sediments were echoed by Tente SDA church elder Daniel Onduso who said they had lost a very faithful youth who was a model to his colleagues.
