This comes after the Kenya National Examination Council, KNEC revised the timetable slating Integrated Science and Creative Arts Studies for October 31 and Christian Religious Education (CRE), Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Hindu Religious Education (HRE) as the last paper on Monday November 3, 2025.

Originally, the Integrated Science paper was scheduled to end at 10:40 a.m., giving candidates sufficient time to complete their examinations. However, a subsequent advisory from KNEC unexpectedly shortened the time, instructing that the paper should now end at 10:00 a.m.

This sudden change caused widespread confusion among school administrators and teachers, many of whom had already prepared students according to the initial timetable. The reduction of 40 minutes raised concerns about whether candidates would have enough time to complete the paper and whether schools could adequately supervise the examination within the new schedule.

“Late communication is so bad,” one head of institution lamented, expressing frustration at the minimal time given to adjust to the new schedule.

The national examinations started on October with Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) commencing on October 21, followed by KJSEA and finally Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education which has entered its second week and is set to end on November 21, 2025.

This year, 3 million students sat for the national exams, marking the highest number ever in the Kenyan examination history.
