Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok has moved to reassure families that the Grade 10 placement is on track, with every learner already allocated a school. Speaking at Alliance Boys’ High School earlier today, Bitok said the government has successfully placed all 1.1 million students transitioning to senior secondary, and urged parents to accept the schools offered rather than crowd a handful of elite institutions.
“There is no confusion about placement. We have been able to place 1.1 million learners. The only problem is that so many students are interested in only 20 schools,” he said, noting it is impossible to fit more than 50,000 learners into the same limited cluster of high‑demand schools.
Bitok emphasized that the transition plan is clear and the process remains smooth, with no disruptions expected as learners report to their assigned institutions. “We are very clear in our minds that the transition process is smooth, and we are confident that learners will be placed. I want to say all the 1.1 million learners have been placed in a school somewhere,” he said.

While acknowledging that some families are still seeking transfers to preferred schools, the PS said the government has allowed revisions until Friday, January 16, 2026. He encouraged parents and learners to take up the opportunities already offered rather than wait for scarce openings. “There are those who have said let us wait and see if we can change, but I want to encourage the student to take the schools they have been given,” Bitok added.
Parents can confirm placement by sending an SMS with the assessment number to 22263 or by logging into the Ministry of Education portal using the assessment number and PIN. After verification, admission letters and requirements can be downloaded directly from the system.
Bitok reiterated that the majority of concerns stem from optimism about switching schools, not from gaps in placement. “All learners are placed. It is just that there are parents who are optimistic about changing the school,” he said, urging families to proceed with admissions to avoid delays as the academic calendar advances.
