Govt to distribute internet from Eldama Ravine TTI to neighbouring schools

Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Eng. John Tanui has said that the government will extend fibre optic internet cables from the recently launched Jitume Digital Lab in Eldama Ravine Technical College to the newly established Scott Christian University and Baringo High School.

The PS, who was speaking during the launch of Scott Christian University – Eldama Ravine campus, lauded the new inaugural university council members for realizing the elusive dream to establish such an institution in the area.

Tanui said the Ministry will work closely with the university on ICT matters to ensuring access to digital skills from potential learners in all wards across the county.

He urged the university to provide programmes that are in line with local and global markets.

With the growing demand of jobs in the digital space, the PS advised youth to enrol in the new university to increase their opportunities and value in the job market.

He praised Baringo Central Constituency legislator Joshua Kandie for embracing a partnership with the German government to boost technical education, who encouraged the youth to learn German to benefit from opportunities from the country.

The MP hinted at the possibility of establishment of a German institute to equip youth with German, Korean and French language skills, noting that the country was in dire need to employ over 170,000 graduates in mechatronics, electronics and metal works.
