The government has said that no student should be sent back home due to lack of school uniform even where the transition to Junior Secondary School (JSS) may warrant the same, as long as they are in uniforms from their previous primary schools.

This was agreed in a Cabinet meeting at State House chaired by the President to discuss imperatives to anchor the implementation of the administration’s transformative plan where the cabinet considered the progress being made in the implementation of the transition to the Junior Secondary School (JSS).

The decision was made in alignment with the government’s aim to offer equal opportunity to all in efforts to ensure 100 per cent transition of learners across the country.

The Cabinet also sanctioned early preparations for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and also the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) national examinations for the second cohort of Grade 6 learners.

Earlier this year the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) readjusted the national exam schedule where KPSEA and KCPE examinations will now begin on November 30 and end on November 2 while KCSE will run from November 3 to November 24 as other students break from October 28, 2023 to January 8, 2024
