Govt launches 10-day rapid results drive to issue birth certificates in Baringo

Immigration PS Dr. Belio Kipsang and National Registration Bureau Director Joseph Ndato launched a 10-day Rapid Results Initiative in Baringo to issue birth certificates and enhance civil registration access.

The government has rolled out a 10-day Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to issue birth certificates en masse in Baringo County. The move aims to enhance access to crucial civil registration services for residents.

National Registration Bureau Director Joseph Ndato said the exercise is part of the government’s broader plan to bring services closer to the people.

“This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to taking essential services to the grassroots. We want to ensure every Kenyan has access to vital documents,” said Ndato.

Speaking in Kabarnet during the launch of the initiative, he urged residents to take advantage of the 10-day window, especially parents who have yet to process birth certificates for their children.

“Let parents act now instead of waiting for the last-minute rush. These documents are not only necessary for school enrollment but also for accessing government services,” he added.

Ndato also noted that the issuance of national identity cards is ongoing alongside birth registration, aiming to streamline the civil documentation process.

“The government is working to make this process seamless, and we are determined to reach every corner of Baringo,” he said.

Local administrators have welcomed the move, saying it will greatly benefit the area, which has a significant number of unregistered residents.

Seretunin Chief Langat Koskey praised the initiative and pledged the support of local leaders to ensure its success.

“Many of our people have lacked these documents for years. This programme is timely, and as local administrators, we are fully on board to help our communities benefit,” said Koskey.

He emphasised that birth certificates and IDs are critical for accessing education, healthcare, and other government services.

“These are not just papers—they are keys to opportunity and inclusion,” he added.

The government has encouraged all eligible residents to visit registration centres within the county before the programme concludes.
