Education stakeholders from Bomachoge Chache and Bomachoge Borabu constituencies have asked the Ministry of Education (MoE) to form policies that will guard school heads from irrational parents who interrupt their professional discharge of duties.
Speaking at Sengera town in the Bomachoge Chache Constituency through their Chairman Dismus Makori, the educationist took a swipe at teachers’ unions that silently watched as principals were ejected from schools by parents over alleged dismal performance by in the national examinations.
“It is students who sit for examinations not the principals who are sacrificed by parents whenever a problem occurs,” he said.
The convention followed the recent ejection of two principals from the neighbouring Kenyenya and Gekong’o Secondary schools where parents invaded the schools and locked the principals’ offices demanding their transfers.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) replaced them with Mr. Wilfred Nyakundi for the former and Mr. Lukas Maburi for the latter school.
They appealed to the parents of both schools to avoid interfering with teachers over in-house matters and instead leave them to work independently for the success of their children’s education.
The leaders appealed to Bomachoge Borabu and Bomachoge Chache Members of Parliament Obadiah Barongo and Alpa Miruka respectively, to intervene and seek long lasting solutions on the sustainability of the two and other schools.
