Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has urged the government to improve the infrastructure in public Junior Secondary Schools (JSSs).

Speaking during the Prayer Day at Mumias Central Primary School, Governor Barasa lauded the construction of five classrooms for Grade 9 learners by the government but called for more development projects, particularly at the school.

Barasa also called for the deployment of more JSS teachers, saying the school has the highest enrolment in the region but had inadequate teachers.

“The government must prioritize the employment of more JSS teachers and improve infrastructure in the school to ensure they maintain excellent performance,” he said.

Obwamu asked parents to take care of their children and create time to guide and counsel the adolescents during the December holiday.

“I thank the governor who came not only as a Governor but as a parent of Grade 6 and 8 learners. His other children also started their education here. This shows that he trusts this school,” he said.
