The County Government of Homa Bay has reaffirmed its commitment towards revamping education in the area.
To that end, the governor Gladys Wanga divulged that they have built 241 Early Childhood Development Education, (ECDE) classrooms, dubbed “Ondoa Kaunda” in the last two years.
Wanga noted that ECDE is the backbone of any education system across the world.
She also said that the ‘Fins to Swim Scholarship, and Bursary Program supports over 20,000 beneficiaries every year.

The governor thanked all partners for their support across the area.
She was speaking at the Blue Economy conference in Homa Bay, where she further requested the governments to support the county set up the Blue Economy Centre of Excellence at Tom Mboya University.
She said the move will ensure Lake Safety for the fisher folk, support for Beach Management Units and inclusion of women and youth to attain the 52,000 potential blue economy jobs in Kenya.

Earlier President William Ruto promised that the Homa Nay prison will be moved to Lambwe in order to pave way for expansion of Tom Mboya University.
The president also undertook to ensure that more student hostels are constructed there.
The head of state clarified that the aim is not to punish the inmates but to create more room for the learning institution.
