Governor urges parents to enroll children in TVET

Tharaka Nithi County Governor Muthomi Njuki. He has asked parents to enroll their children in TVET institutions to gain skills.

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has urged parents to enroll their children in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in a bid to acquire technical courses and make them self-reliant in future.

He said vocational training centres are the future of the country, enabling learners to get a wide range of training opportunities.

“Vocational training centres are the future of the country. I encourage parents to consider enrolling their children in these institutions where a wide range of training opportunities is available,” he said.

He was speaking when he officially opened the Mugumango Vocational Training Center’s boys’ dormitory and administration block in Ganga Ward, Maara Constituency.

The block that the county governor Muthomi Njuki opened at Mugumango VTC, during which he beseeched parents to consider enrolling their children in TVETs to gain self-reliance skills.

 

The governor lauded the progress made at the training centre and especially the increased number of instructors and the introduction of unique courses, such as phone repair, which sets it apart from many other vocational institutions.

He challenged the institution to continue offering courses that meet the high demand for skilled professionals.

Governor Njuki said through a partnership between Tharaka Nithi County Government and KCB Bank’s 2Jiajiri programme, 400 students from various vocational centres are receiving free training, with 40 of these beneficiaries coming from Mugumango Vocational Training Center.

The governor also inaugurated the NKangani Primary ECDE class, marking a commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the region.
