Governor reiterates intention to prioritize education

By Enock Okong’o

Nyamira County Governor Amos Nyaribo has reiterated his intention to prioritize the education sector in a bid to churn out educated and dependable personnel for development of the county.

He said that in the past two years, his government, through its education bursary fund, has spent more than Ksh 2 million to support 200 students from poor homes to continue with their secondary and University education.

“We shall continue putting more money aside for this noble course for the prosperity of this county,” he said.

Saying that the county’s development calls for collective effort, Nyaribo asked other leaders from the area to identify needy students and support them to continue with education.

Nyaribo asked parents to encourage their children who did not qualify to join University to enroll in local Vocational Training institutes.

“Tell our youths that there are other avenues apart from Universities where they can get quality education to enable them to sustain themselves,” he said.

He asked the youth to train in science and technology programmes to equip themselves with high-demand skills.

In the same forum, West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka echoed the sentiments and revealed that his office will work in tandem with the Governor‘s office to develop the education sector.

The legislator promised to give priority to the orphaned and children of single parents.

He thanked President Ruto and his Parliament for ratifying the continuation of the NG-CDF.

“We are happy with the step the President took in supporting this kitty because its stoppage would have killed the spirit of devolved governance,” he said.

The MP then asked the students to apply for the bursary awaiting allocation in January 2023.
