Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has expressed concerns over the high number of students who sit for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) but fail to proceed for further education.
Speaking in Eldoret recently, Mandago blamed the laxity of parents and guardians for the high school dropout.
Mandago noted that technical institutions are not meant for failures.
“I want to urge parents to refrain from the notion that technical institutions are meant for failures. Anyone who needs technical education can enroll in the institutions. When one is equipped with technical skills and knowledge, he or she can be self-employed after completion of their education,” Mandago added.
He also encouraged the youth to be passionate about education and to focus on studying courses that are currently in high demand.
