Bungoma   Governor, Ken   Lusaka   has   promised  to  continue   putting  up  more  measures  to streamline   the  county Scholarship   Programme   and   Ward  Bursaries  Kitty  to  boost  quality  Education  amongst  children  from  vulnerable  families.

Speaking   at  the   Bungoma   County Referral  Hospital   Paediatric unit while dispensing and distributing drugs   and  other  pharmaceutical products  worths  Shs 54.8  million   from  the  Kenya  Medical  Supplies (KEMSA) Lusaka  revealed  that  early  next  week  he  is  going  to  conduct  a meeting  with  all  Secondary  Schools  Principals  at  Lugulu  Girls  National  School.

He  added that  due  to  an  outcry   from  a  section  of  parents  who  allege  that  their  children   were  struck  out  from  the  list  of   scholarship  beneficiaries , his  office  is  going  to  look  out  more  for  a  formidable  solution into  the  matter.

According   to  Governor  Lusaka  the  number  of  student  beneficiaries  ballooned  from  the  previous   government  to   8,000  during  the  campaigns  period  last  year  but  it had  to  reduce  to   5,000   students   due  to   the  budgetary   allocations   towards   education  department.

“Parents   and  Guardians  have  a responsibility  over  the  Education  of  their  children. Some  leaders  have  turned  the  issue of  Scholarship  to  be  a tool  of  political  propaganda  against  my  administration,” said  Lusaka.

The  leader  said that  he  understands  the  County  Government  owes  schools funds to a tune  of  Shs 14  million  to various  Schools   and  hinted  that  once  funds  are  disbursed  to  counties  the  money  will  be  wired  directly  to  their  accounts.
