Narok Governor Patrick ole Ntutu has officially opened the Nkaroni Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in Narok South sub county, Narok County, describing it as a game-changer for technical education and youth empowerment in the county.
The launch marks a significant milestone in the county government’s plan to equip young people with skills. Ntutu added that the county would continue to partner with national government agencies, donors, and private sector players to provide equipment, internships and job placements for graduates.
“We want our young people to walk out of this gate job-ready and confident of their skills,” he said.
Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno who attended the launch, lauded the county for prioritising youth empowerment, calling the Nkaroni VTC a “critical pillar” for reducing unemployment and curbing migration to urban centres.

Area Sogoo MCA Hillary Sitienei also urged students to seize the opportunity, saying: “These facilities belong to you. Use them to build careers that will transform your lives and your families.”
The governor was accompanied by County Assembly Majority Leader Dominic Sonkoi , Ilmotiok Ward MCA Duncan Bore, Nominated MCA Leah Ntimama, Melelo Ward MCA David Sulunye, and other leaders.
They pledged continued support to vocational training centres as part of a wider county strategy to invest in education, health and infrastructure.

With the opening of the Nkaroni VTC, Narok joins a growing list of counties investing in technical and vocational education to address Kenya’s youth unemployment challenge — estimated nationally at over 13 per cent.
Officials hope the centre will soon evolve into a model institution producing skilled artisans and entrepreneurs who will help drive the region’s economic growth.
