As the Mutula Kilonzo Jnr Supa Cup concluded, the Governor has proposed that the county should have its own team, Makueni FC, and has called upon the sports department to take up the matter.
“What I have been witnessing is pure talent in our youths. These local talents should be nurtured and developed throughout, whether with tournaments or without. The FC will also help the youths transition to national and even beyond,” Mutula said.

He was speaking during the just concluded Mutula Jnr Supa Cup county finals, announcing that the best teams are proceeding to Laikipia from April 10-19 for nationals, adding that he is confident that Makueni will emerge the winners in the Kenya Youth Intercounty Sports Association (KYISA).
“We have selected all-star teams in different disciplines, including football, volleyball, handball and basketball.

I am telling you we are taking the best to Laikipia and I am very confident in them,” Mutula said.

He decried the poor state of sports pitches, announcing that his government is committed to increasing the budget to support infrastructure development, such as pitches and lighting installations, so players can play late into the night and promote the growth of sports in the county.
