Governor commits to improve learning conditions in ECDE centres in Nyeri

Nyeri County Governor Mutahi Kahiga has promised to continuously improve the learning conditions in ECDE centers, starting from infrastructural development to employing more teachers.

The governor stated that his administration is committed to ensuring that young learners get the most out of their educational and progressive journey.

He stated that Karatina and Nairutia VTCs made an assortment of furniture that has been dispatched to schools.

“The county government has supplied an assortment of stationery like manila papers, exercise and textbooks, chalk, crayons, pencils and pens to 435 ECDE centres,” he said, adding that he has also employed 809 ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.

Kahiga revealed that he has constructed and renovated several ECDE classrooms, with plans underway to introduce a milk programme in schools to increase attendance and enrollment as well as contribute to the overall health of learners.

Education CECM Margaret Macharia affirmed that her department is committed to creating a conducive learning environment that will serve as a springboard for learners’ personal development.

Dedan Kimathi ward MCA Gibson Wahinya said the county assembly will support the initiatives to uplift the standards of the learning centers.
