In a spirited show of support for youth and sports, Kakamega Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa on Sunday hosted and officially flagged off secondary school teams representing the county at the 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Games.
Held at the prestigious Golf Hotel in Kakamega, the event brought together players, coaches, principals, and Key County sports officials for a special luncheon organized in honour of the athletes’ commitment and achievements. The national games are set to kick off on Tuesday, 29th July 2025, right here in Kakamega.
In his keynote address, Governor Barasa lauded the teams for qualifying to represent the county and announced a Ksh 100,000 cash support for each school team to aid in their final preparations. He also encouraged the athletes to uphold discipline, integrity, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
