He added, “On my behalf, and the people of Kisumu, I take this opportunity to appreciate the principals, teachers, and the candidates for the good performance in KCSE 2024.
He said a good number of schools, within the county, achieved remarkable improvement in the just released exam results.
Dedication
The governor noted that this was achieved as a result of the dedication of the teachers, good discipline of the learners, and support from the parents.
In a statement, the governor thanked the Kisumu County Education Director and TSC Director, County Education Board, KESSHA, KEPSHA, KNUT, KUPPET, Parents Association, religious organizations sponsoring schools and NGOs supporting education for their efforts.
He said they teamed up to bring this improvement.
The governor also recognized the important role played by corporate partners such as Equity Bank, Family Bank, Cooperative Bank KCB Bank, among others.
He said they have made it possible for thousands of learners in the county to access education, some whose results are sterling.
“I want to particularly congratulate Maseno School, and Chemelil Sugar Secondary, for their impressive performance in the exams,” he said.

Some of the schools which excelled include Chulaimbo Boys whose mean score rose from 6.1 in 2023 to 6.9 in 2024, Huma Girls (4.2 to 5.2), Thurdibuoro Boys (5.6 to 6.7), Sigoti Girls (6.7 to 7.8), St Marks Obambo Mixed (4.7 to 5.6), Nyakach Girls (6.4 to 7.1), Achego Girls (5.0 to 5.7), Menera Boys (5.7 to 6.2) and St Rita Ramula (3.7 to 4.8) among many others.

Girls, he said were at 52.39 per cent while boys were at 47.61 per cent.
“This is not to say that the county government has a preference for any gender. Opportunities are provided equally,” he said.
Social responsibility
He said the county government will continue with its social responsibility of supporting needy students in secondary schools and institutions of higher learning with scholarships and bursaries, to help in improving academic standards, identification of deserving cases for the 2025 lot is ongoing and the results will be made public later.
The governor said students are encouraged to apply in good time through their bursary ward committees.
He said they will continue with this noble cause so that academics in this county soar even higher.
“We are proud of everyone who had an input in the good KCSE performance. Happy New Year,” he said.
