Governor announces huge pay rise for 800 Nyeri ECDE teachers

Nyeri County has announced the harmonization of salary scales for its 800 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers.

This decision is expected to positively impact on the financial well-being of these dedicated educators, ensuring they receive fair compensation for their vital role in shaping the future of our children.

Nyeri County Governor Mutahi Kahiga said that under the revised salary structure, ECDE teachers in the lowest cadre, Job Group J, will witness a notable increase from Ksh. 13,983 to Ksh. 25,220.

Kahiga further noted that those in the highest cadre, Job Group K, will now receive Ksh 52,833, up from Ksh 30,227.

“Teachers in Job Group G and H will also benefit from substantial improvements, with their salaries rising to Ksh. 31,550 and Ksh. 34,750, respectively, compared to the previous figures of Ksh. 15,424,” he stated.

Nyeri County has announced the standardization of salary scales for its 800 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers.

Additionally, he reassured the teachers that these adjustments are not only effective from July of this year but are also a token of appreciation for their multifaceted roles as caregivers, mentors, and advocates, shaping the emotional and social competence of the young minds in their care.
