The County Commissioner of Marsabit Norman Komora has said that the Government is striving to enhance educational facilities within public secondary schools to address the pressing issue of low school attendance and high dropout rates in ASAL Regions.

Speaking during a joint support mission for the implementation of the Secondary School Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQIP), the Commissioner underscored the importance of these initiatives, acknowledging that many schools have already benefited from government-backed infrastructure development.

However, he emphasized the need for further improvements to create a more conducive learning environment and alleviate facility congestion in the region.

The commissioner further urged contractors to expedite the completion of the project while stressing the importance of ensuring value for the funds allocated by the World Bank.

Barongo, however, cautioned that no construction work would take place during upcoming national examinations, underlining the need for timely project completion.

Also in attendance was the Director of Ministry of Education for Primary Education, Stephen Barongo who also showcased the state’s dedication to enhancing existing school infrastructure.
