Bungoma East Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) official Aggrey Namisi has urged teachers to turn out in large numbers to receive the Covax vaccine.

He spoke at Bungoma County referral hospital during the rolling out of Covid-19 vaccination event that was presided over by Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and Health CECM Anthony Walela.

Namisi lauded that move by the government through the ministry of Health to disburse vaccines in all devolved units, so that all frontline workers can be vaccinated.

”I plead with all teaching fraternity to turn out in huge numbers and be vaccinated,” he appealed.

In an exclusive interview with Education News, David Barasa, Kuppet Chairman Bungoma Branch said that the country has lost many school heads due to Covid-19 related complications, lauding TSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia for leading teachers to take vaccine.

”Our bosses from the national desk have been vaccinated I don’t see any reason to escape it, it’s a countrywide exercise,” he affirmed.

Bungoma County director of Education Phillip Chirchir asked teachers especially the aged with underlying issues to be vaccinated.
