School leavers have been advised to bridge for underperformed subjects to upgrade their marks and points to joint higher learning institutions to pursue their desired courses.

Hailing the government for re-introducing bridging courses programs, Kapsoit Ward Member of County Assembly Paul Chirchir told the youths to grasp the opportunity to align with the global demand for quality education and skills.

He said the initiative for the program confirmed the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to securing jobs in and outside the country for the school leavers who did not meet entry points to higher learning institutions.

“Hundreds of youths who underperformed in some subjects are technically denied chances to pursue careers of their choice in higher learning institutions which is demoralizing and detrimental to the delivery of services when employed,” he said.

Chirchir was addressing mourners during the burial ceremony of Retired Kenya Defence Force (KDF) the late Charles Maritim at Telanet Village in the Ward, Kericho County.

He disclosed plans to register all school leavers in the Ward to enable him to get placement for available job and career opportunities both locally and internationally market.

“I appeal to youth not to destroy their future by indulging in matters which are detrimental to their lives like drugs and alcoholism. There is light at the end of the tunnel with this Government in place,” he said.
