Glory for Moi Girls Kamusinga, Tigoi Girls, and Vihiga High at Western Region Championships

The Western Region Secondary Schools Sports Association (WRSSSA) championships concluded spectacularly, with Moi Girls Kamusinga, Tigoi Girls, and Vihiga High School emerging as standout handball, hockey, and rugby champions, respectively.

Moi Girls Kamusinga stamped their authority in handball with a dominant 27-11 victory over a resilient Mukumu Girls side in the finals.

The champions displayed sheer class and tactical superiority, dismantling their opponents with precise attacking play and solid defensive organization.

Their emphatic triumph secures them a spot in the national championships, where they will seek to extend their dominance on a grander stage.

In hockey, 2024 national champions Tigoi Girls reaffirmed their status as the region’s powerhouses after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over St. Cecilia Girls Misikhu in the final.

The closely contested affair saw Tigoi Girls exhibit grit, composure, and tactical discipline to break through St. Cecilia’s resilient defence and clinch the coveted Western Region crown.

Their triumph solidifies their dominance and sets the stage for another shot at national glory.

The rugby fifteens final was a battle of giants. Vihiga High School, famously known as the Vipers, edged Saint Peters Mumias in a nerve-wracking clash to claim the Western Region title.

The decisive moment came through a well-taken penalty, sealing a 3-0 victory for Vihiga.

Their disciplined and tactically astute performance ensures them a place in the national championships, where they will look to make an even bigger statement.

Musingu Boys edged Kamusinga 1-0 in a tense encounter in boys’ hockey, showcasing resilience and tactical prowess to claim victory.
