Give back to learning institutions that shaped you, PS Motari urges Kenyans

The Social Protection and Senior Citizens Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Joseph Motari has urged Kenyans of goodwill and those serving in leadership positions to give back to the learning institutions that shaped their lives.

Speaking at his former primary school, now known as Nyabikongori Comprehensive School in Kuria East Sub-County, Motari called upon leaders and professionals to invest in improving infrastructure in their former schools.

“It is good to give back to your community and improve the learning space of the same institutions that moulded you into what you are today,” said Motari. “Those who have been blessed to hold leadership positions and other able individuals in society should take deliberate steps to transform their former schools.”

Through his personal initiative, the school has undergone a facelift, including the construction of four ultra-modern classrooms complete with tiled floors, ceilings and electricity to provide a conducive learning environment.

The new classrooms, each with a capacity of about 70 students, are expected to ease congestion and enhance safety among learners.

Head of Institution Daniel Chacha said the new development would significantly improve education standards at the comprehensive school.

“The old building had been condemned by the Ministry of Health as unfit for any learning activities. We are happy that the new ultra-modern structures will help to provide a conducive environment for learners to do even better,” said Chacha.

Motari, who is also an alumnus of Taranganya Secondary School and Isebania Secondary School, revealed that he would soon commission a laboratory and library at Taranganya Boys and conduct a fundraiser later this month in support of Isebania Boys High School.

“We must invest in education infrastructure if we want to uplift our communities. A good classroom, a functional laboratory and a well-stocked library can change the trajectory of a child’s life,” he said.

The event was also attended by Kuria East parliamentary aspirant Monica Motari, who lauded the Principal Secretary for his commitment to improving education infrastructure in the region.
