A girl from Ndima Kanini Primary School Debrah Aluel scored 425 marks in the 2023 KCPE to send the school into frenzied celebrations and jubilation.
The halls of the academy echoed with the cheers and applause of classmates, who couldn’t contain their excitement for her outstanding performance.
According to the girl, the journey towards this achievement has been one of perseverance, determination and a thirst for knowledge.
“I’m very happy to have achieved this. I worked hard, and the teachers were very supportive. My dream is to become a lecturer and join Alliance Girls High school,” she said.
Aluel said she found her passion in Mathematics and Science at an early age.
“I enjoyed studying Mathematics and Science since I was young,” she said.
“The school provided me with a conducive learning environment as the teachers were very friendly and encouraging,” she added.
School director Lincoln Njogu said the school has 66 pupils who attained 400 marks and above, raising their mean score to 398 to surpass last year’s 371.
“As a school we are very proud of our students. We had a total of 134 candidates and 66 managed to score more than 400 marks,” he said.
Mary Wachuka, the girl’s mother, described her as an obedient child who was always serious in her studies.
“When I received the news that she had performed brilliantly, I was so happy. She has always been working hard, and through the help of the teachers she deserved it as she has consistently shown great promise,” she said.
