A 15 year old class seven pupil has committed suicide in Nyatike sub-county in Migori County under unclear circumstances.
The girl who is a pupil at Jangoye primary school took her own life in her alleged boyfriend’s home.
Nyatike sub county police commander Stala Too who confirmed the incident said the body of the pupil identified as Awino Odhaimbo was found hanging with a rope tied on a tree a few metres from the alleged boyfriend’s house.
The sub county police boss said the body was found by passersby in the afternoon who reported the matter to the local administration.
Too said they are yet to establish why the pupil commited suicide, they suspect that the act was out of anger after love went sour. She however said the investigation into the death has been launched adding that they are waiting for autopsy report.
“We have launched investigations to the circumstances surrounding the death of Noli as we also expect the autopsy results to help in the investigations even though it could be out of anger over love gone sour,” said Too.
Area chief Samwel Otieno said preliminary investigation has revealed that the deceased had left home to unknown place before she was found dead.
The body of the deceased has been moved to Sori Lakeside hospital mortuary pending police investigations.
