Gichugu Member of Parliament, MP Githinji Gichimu has announced the sponsorship of over 100 artisans to take the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)programme at the Gichuhu Technical and Vocational Training college in order to secure certificates and self-employment.
The artisans mainly masons, plumbers, welders, hairdressers, beauticians and others who have gained experience over the years will be tested on the artistic skills by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) through the Gichugu technical and vocational training college.
Gichugu MP Githinji Gichimu said that through NG-CDF artisans will be sponsored to be certified to open job opportunities.

“We aim at ensuring that all get jobs, we know we have had artisans or skilled workers who did not have certificates, through NG-CDF we are keen to sponsor a number but first we have started with 100 determined to get more,” said Gichimu.
Gichugu Principal Joseph Kimemia said through the RPL program, more artisans will get certified.
“We have started the Recognition Prior Learning program in our college, we want artisans with skills to come and get certified,” said Kimemia.
