Ghanima El-Marzuq Girls Secondary School has emerged as the top-performing school in Kajiado County in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, according to results recently released. The school recorded an impressive mean score of 9.32 points, a significant leap from the 7.42 points achieved in 2024, surpassing several long-established institutions across the county.
The achievement is particularly striking given the socio-economic challenges faced by many of the students. A large number of candidates come from underprivileged households, with several being orphans who rely on well-wishers for school fees, learning materials and basic necessities. Despite these obstacles, the students demonstrated remarkable resilience and commitment to their studies.
School principal Barika Salim attributed the strong performance to discipline, teamwork and the determination of both students and teachers. “Our students refused to be limited by their backgrounds. Through discipline, unity, and commitment from both learners and teachers, they achieved this remarkable success,” she said.

The school also recorded 22 B+ grades, 14 B grades, another 14 B- grades, and two C+ grades. This distribution reflects both the exceptional talent of the students and the consistent guidance and support provided by the school.
The support of Direct Aid Kenya has played a key role in the school’s success, enabling vulnerable girls to access education and pursue academic excellence. Education stakeholders in Kajiado County have hailed the results as proof that targeted support and strong leadership can transform learning outcomes even under challenging circumstances.
The success of Ghanima El-Marzuq Girls is a clear demonstration that students from disadvantaged backgrounds can achieve remarkable results when given the right guidance, support and opportunities, setting a high benchmark for other schools in the county.
