Frisking candidates should be done by same gender, says TSC Deputy Director

Makueni County TSC deputy director David Gutu has called upon center managers and invigilators to make sure candidates are frisked by the same gender.

Speaking during a briefing of National exams with multi agency team at Makueni boys high school, Gutu said it has proved difficult for different gender to inspect unauthorized materials in candidates before they start exams or when suspected during exams.

“Some of these candidates hide such materials in ‘Nairobi’ making it difficult for a different gender to pick or search for it. We don’t want such cases and that’s why we must ensure among the invigilators, there must be same gender in every school to avoid such challenges” he added.

The deputy director called upon the invigilators to be in their rooms throughout to notice students who might be having foreign materials in exam rooms.

The officer urged center managers to ensure punctuality and report where a school has got no same gender immediately.

Apparently as he emphasized on exam cheating, he reminded teachers to make sure all the stimulus materials in exam rooms are removed completely before the exams starts, reminding them that exam irregularities will not be condoned.

“I am also urging the invigilators to ensure they use the wall clock and avoid use of mobile phones in timing. We need seriousness in exam period,” Gutu added.

The County has got 871 centers and 31875 KCPE candidates. There are 370 centers with 22695 KCSE candidates.
