Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners and grade 3 students in all schools within Mbeere South, Embu will be provided with free, nutritious porridge made from fortified flour starting next year.

The Member of Parliament of G.K. Ruku has said that many of the learners have struggled in their studies due to persistent hunger resulting from the lack of balanced diets at home.

Additionally, he allocated Ksh. 22 million for bursaries, benefiting University and Technical College students in Mbeere North, Embu County.

He also assured transparency and non-discrimination in the allocation of bursaries, transcending political affiliations.

“In Mbeere Constituency, a total of 2,234 learners in universities and technical colleges will each receive Ksh. 10, 000 as part of the bursary initiative, regardless of their geographical origin,” the MP noted.

Moreover, he highlighted that the investment goes beyond financial support and extends to the refurbishment of schools that have long been neglected.

One such school set to benefit from this program is Mianjatini Primary School, which will receive a much-needed infusion of at least Ksh. 7 million.

“This funding will cover comprehensive renovations, including a new gate, access pathways, modernized classrooms, and the installation of new flooring,” Ruku explained.

He further highlighted that the initial phase of this endeavor focuses on digitizing Junior Secondary School units, providing computers, software, and other vital resources.

Notably, experts from the American tech giant, Oracle Tech Firm, have visited the region to assess facilities and have committed to supplying the necessary digital infrastructure.

Ruku also voiced his support for the establishment of private colleges and universities, emphasizing that there is no shortage of higher education opportunities in the region.

Additionally, he launched campaigns to promote the export of young graduates from Mbeere South and Embu County to foreign countries, creating opportunities for them to work in various sectors of the economy abroad.

‘Ten young computer and IT experts from Mbeere South have already been accepted by the Austrian government, with plans for them to contribute their expertise to the foreign country’s economy,” the MP stated.
