Mabere Foundation has donated sanitary towels to two girls secondary schools in Budalangi Constituency of Busia County.

The benefiting learning institutions are St Triza Mundere and St Cecilia Namenya girls secondary schools in Bunyala North and Bunyala West administrative wards.

Speaking to Education News after donating the sanitary pads to the recipients on Thursday, June 20, the foundation Chief Executive Officer James Mabele emphasized that majority of school girls in the constituency have been undergoing menstrual challenges owing to lack of the vice as scores of parents cannot afford to buy the pads for their girls owing to the economic challenges they face.

He said lack of the pads has seen majority of school girls opting out of school due to shame and ridicule by the male counterparts they say have turned them into a laughing stock.

The well-wisher said he will continue to support school girls through the provision of the sanitary pads so they can continue with learning without interruption.

Mabere proceeded to Igigo and Bubamba primary schools in Bunyala North and Central wards where he donated 90 kilos of beans and 180 kilos of maize for the ongoing school feeding programme.

The well-wisher at the same time commissioned the ongoing construction of four pit latrines at Bubamba Primary that will serve the pupils and teachers.

The well-wisher has also supported the education of several needy students in the constituency since last year, paying a whole year’s school fees for them.
