Former Bomet Central Member of Parliament, MP Ronald Tonui has mourned the passing of Paul Kenduiywa, a retired teacher from Kapcheluch Village, Ndaraweta, in Bomet Central Sub-County, describing him as a respected educator, community leader, and agricultural pioneer.
Tonui said the late Kenduiywa, who taught at Ndaraweta Primary School, was a teacher of great understanding, humility, and discipline who impacted the lives of many pupils through his dedication and firm moral guidance.
“I have learned of the passing on of our retired teacher Paul Kenduiywa with deep sadness. He taught us with a lot of understanding and humanness but was also a firm disciplinarian. He was naturally a happy person,” Tonui said.
The former MP, who also serves as the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) National Vice Treasurer, said Kenduiywa’s career reflected the true spirit of service that many teachers across the country continue to uphold. He noted that the teaching profession remains the foundation of community development and moral growth, values that Kenduiywa lived by throughout his life.

Tonui further praised the late Kenduiywa’s contribution to agriculture, describing him as a renowned dairy, tea, and maize farmer and one of the pioneers of the former Ndaraweta Dairy, a transformative initiative that boosted the local economy and improved farmers’ livelihoods.
He added that Kenduiywa was a man of wisdom and generosity, always willing to share guidance and encouragement with neighbours and the younger generation.
“I pass my condolences to his immediate family and the Kapcheluch and Sogoet c. His legacy neighbours as a teacher, farmer, and mentor will continue to inspire generations,” Tonui said.
