Former Kenya Seed boss ordered to surrender school land

The Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC) has ordered former Kenya Seed Managing Director Nathniel Tum to surrender land title deeds belonging to Kitale School Complex.

In a letter seen by education news, Tum has been asked to surrender the documents of the property in question following investigations.

 The commission says the land was irregularly allocated to him and issued a directive that the private developer should surrender the property documents for cancellation and return of the land to the learning institution.

“In exercise of its mandate conferred by law, the commission hereby demand from you the immediate surrender of the property, certificate of lease, lease both issued on march 2013 and other documents incidental thereto for cancellation”, reads the letter dated 28th of June 2021.

The respondent has been given a month to act on the directive land return the land in dispute that is approximately 10 hectares.

Reacting to the development, Kitale school primary head teacher Emel Sitienei expressed his satisfaction saying the issue was long overdue.

Sitienei said the man hived off  the school land and transferred it to his name while serving as the chairman of the school’s board of management.

“The school has been having legal battles in the corridors of justice but we are happy that the matter is coming to an end and soon the school will have its land back”, said Sitienei.
