Form Three student stabs two teachers at Kisii High School

Police officers in Kisii County are presently investigating an incident where a Form Three student is reported to have stabbed two teachers at Kisii High School on Tuesday morning.

A teacher identified as Edwin Mokaya sustained deep injuries in the forehead after he was allegedly attacked by Erick Mandere, 17 who is said to have been retaliating punishment for reporting late to class.

According to sources, the student attacked the first teacher when he questioned him for reporting late to class. He, however, is alleged to have attacked another teacher identified as Mr. Elvis Maoto on the wrist when he tried to prevent him from attacking Mokaya.

After the incident, the teachers were rushed to Ram Hospital in Kisii where they are receiving treatment. The hospital administrator Enock Abobi confirmed that the hospital received them and they were treated.

Senior police officers and education officials arrived at the school although the media was barred from accessing the compound. 

Kisii County Police Commander Jebel confirmed they have launched investigations into the incident.

“We have commenced investigation to establish what transpired and once the report is ready will be given out, “he said.

However, appearing before Senior Magistrate, Mandere through his lawyer Ben Gichana denied the allegations citing that it is the teachers who were fighting him. He was released on a bond of sh100,000 pending the hearing.
