Form three student commits suicide in Elburgon

A Form Three student from Elburgon DEB Secondary School committed suicide at their home in Kasarani Estate in Elburgon, Nakuru County recently.

Area Assistant Chief Steve Mwangi said the body of the 18 year-old student was found dangling on the roof inside a one-roomed cubicle outside her parent’s residential house.

“I received a call from residents informing me that someone has committed suicide. On reaching there, I found that it was the body of a form three student from a neighbouring school who used a lesso to commit suicide,” said Mr Mwangi.

Reasons why she took her own life are unknown because no suicidal note that was recovered at the scene.

A close friend of the victim who was with her barely a day before she committed suicide, said the girl looked happy and no one could detect that she would commit suicide.

The victim’s father Mr Francis Ngumi, said he left home early in the morning to his place of work as usual but she daughter was at home because she slept out the previous night.

“We had no conflicts with her despite occasionally spent nights out their house which did not please me,” said Mr Ngumi.

The chief asked young people to open up their minds and share their problems with friends, parents or teachers instead of committing suicide.

The incident comes barely two weeks after another pupil, together with her parent committed suicide by jumping into and drowning inside a Man-Made Dam at Ndimu Farm in Elburgon.
