A Form Four male student committed suicide at Magena village on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, on allegations that his parents did not love or listen to him.
According to his parents, he went missing from home for three days without their knowledge, but he was later found hanging from the roof behind his uncle’s house.
The student who was a Form Four Candidate this year at Metembe Secondary school in Kenya left a suicide note saying that he had suffered a lot with school problems and decided to get rid of the problems by taking his life.
According to his close friend, who identified himself as Vincent Maoncha, the deceased rang at night and instructed him to pick up the phone he had rented to him from his home during his burial ceremony.
“I detected that he was crying at night as he called, but I did not know that it was a warning of death from him,” he said.

The police from Magena Station took the body to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for pending burial plans.
Former Kisii County Nominated MCA Esther Nyamwamu decried the rate of suicidal cases among the youth in the last four months.
She attributed the deaths more to the use of illicit brew by the youth and pressure on them caused by high aspirations to live a high life, more than their parents can support.
She asked the youth to embrace self-control and discipline and try to talk to their friends, teachers or parents for help instead of taking steps to die painfully and affect their parents and siblings.
Her message was echoed by Pr Nathan Otatara, who doubles as the Kenyenya Subcounty Peace Committee Coordinator.
He asked school chaplains to strengthen guidance and counselling for the youth to enable them to live in the reality of life as they navigate their transitional life from childhood to adulthood.
