A Form Four candidate allegedly hacked a middle aged woman to death on the morning of Wednesday, 21st September in Marani, Kisii county.

According to area Chief Mr. Samwel Omuna, he was informed by villagers about the incident and hurried to confirm and ensure order at the scene.

“I went to the scene and found the mutilated body lying in a pool of blood,” said Mr. Omuna.

Eye witnesses identified the assailant as Sebastian Ombae, a 17-year-old boy from the area who took to his heels after committing the heinous act.

At the time of publishing this story, the cause for disagreement between the two was yet to be established.

The body of the deceased, identified as Crecentiah Kemunto was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Kisii County Commissioner Hallan Macharia ordered commencement of investigations and arrest and arraignment of the suspect.

Following the incident, residents have appealed to the government to beef up security in the area to avoid more murders.

They claimed unregulated consumption of illicit brew (chang’aa) and drug abuse by area youth contributed to the rise in vices making the village unsafe.

“If we do not raise alarm to the administration, we will all perish,” said one of the residents.
