A Form 2 girl was killed at Emenwa village in Bobasi Constituency of Kisii County by unknown people who attacked their home.

According to her mother Jane Maobe, her daughter met the painful death when the thugs broke into their house at night.

“We had just taken supper when we were attacked and watched helplessly as my daughter died in cold blood,” she said.

When the police arrived at the scene, the villains had run away, leaving behind some crude weapons that can be used to nab the suspects.

“We tried to track the suspects although it was night but we did not succeed in catching them,” said one police officer who identified himself as Harlon Osewe.

He asked the Nyumba Kumi groups to join hands with village youth to form night vigil groups, promising that no stone will be left unturned in the pursuit of the killers.

The body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for autopsy.

Kisii County Deputy Governor Robert Monda, who visited the home to condole with them, decried insecurity in the area and attributed it to heavy drinking of illicit brews and use of drugs.

“Most of these people are idlers who do not work but depend on begging from hardworking people, use the money to buy cheap and dangerous liquor, and when they finish they resort to attacking innocent people,” he said.

The deputy governor promised that the county and national governments will join hands and establish another police post in the area or post more officers to Emenwa as reinforcement.
