A first-year Pharmacy student at Kabarak University Joshua Plimo has died in a hit and run accident involving a GK vehicle GKB 396Z outside the varsity premises two days ago.

In an official statement, Kabarak University Student Organization (KUSO) President Karen Cheptoo Birech sent condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

“We unequivocally condemn this reckless act and express deep concern about the apparent negligence that resulted in such a tragic loss,” Birech stated.

She further noted that the incident is under investigation at Menengai Police Station under OB no. 02/19/11/2023.

“The safety of our students is paramount, and we are committed to ensuring justice for our fallen brother and friend,” she stated.

Birech highlighted that remaining silent in moments of injustice is akin to siding with the oppressor.

Additionally, she condemned the blatant disregard for public safety through dangerous driving.

“As members of this academic institution, we anticipate justice for our brother and will tirelessly work to honour his memory appropriately,” Birech stated.
