Fire razes Makueni school dormitory

Just three days after Mukaa boys secondary school fire incident, Maiani girls dormitory in Mukaa sublocation, Kilome division was razed down by fire.

Makueni county commander Joseph ole Napeiyan said the school principal Damaris Mutheu Mutisya reported that fire broke out at around 7.20 hours.

“We detected fire in form three and two dormitories, raised the alarm and together with the

school management started extinguishing the fire,” Mutisya said.

The county commander said they established that the fire started at Mega dorm which hosts 176 form two and three students. Nothing was salvaged.

However the County emergency fire engine helped extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported and all students were accounted for. Police have launched investigations in the cause of fire.

About 1260 Mukaa boys were sent home to pave way for investigations as 13 of the students were arrested to help in further investigations. A dormitory which houses 200 students was torched.
